Brian Friel

Der irische Schriftsteller. Seit 1960 freier Schriftsteller. Er schreibt amüsante Prosa, Dramen und Einakter. Mit "Philadelphia, ich bin da!" (1965) schaffte er den internationalen Durchbruch. Weitere Werke u. a.: "The Freedom in the City" (1973), "Sprachstörungen" (1982), "Fathers and Sons" (1987), "Making History" (1988), "A Mounth in the County" (1990), "Molly Sweeney" (1995), "Give Me Your Answer, Do!" (1997), "The Yalta Game" (2001), "Afterplay" (2002), "Performances" (2003), "The Home Place" (2005). Er ist Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Letters und seit 1994 der Irish Academy of Letters.
